The BIP Master’s course offers 6 specialties:
- Systems Biology
- Aging and Longevity
- Marine Biology and Bioresources
- Neurosciences, five options:
- Cognitive and Behavioral Neurosciences (NCC)
- Integrated Cellular Neurosciences (NCI)
- Neurobiology of psychiatric diseases
- Neurodegenerative diseases
- Vision science
- Nutrition, Quality and Health
- Human Physiology and Pathophysiology
Prerequisites
For entry at M1 level: students must hold a bachelor’s degree in the domain of science, technology or health, specializing in life sciences, from Sorbonne University or from another French or foreign university.
For entry at M2 level: students must have validated their M1 year at Sorbonne University or another university, or must be medical, dentistry or pharmacy students, students from an engineering school or in veterinary training, or students from a “grande école” (e.g. ENS, AgroParisTech, ESPCI) or a foreign university.
These specialties are supported by a large number of research teams:
- 400 national host teams (e.g. at INSERM, CNRS, INRA, CIRAD, IFREMER, Sorbonne University)
- Host teams from foreign universities (e.g. Europe, United States, Canada, Chile, Brazil, China, Singapore and Japan)
- Possibility of placements at university marine stations (Banyuls-sur-Mer Oceanology Observatory and the biological stations at Roscoff and Villefranche-sur-Mer) or other European marine stations (Naples).
And doctoral schools:
- Brain, Cognition and Behavior (ED 158)
- Diversity of Life (ED 392)
- Logic of Life (ED 515)
- Physiology, Pathophysiology and Therapeutics (ED 394)
- Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (Paris 7 Diderot)
Center for Practical Training in Biology (CFPB - Centre de Formation Pratique de Biologie)
This master’s program is associated with the CFPB, which has an advanced technological platform for practical training (technological workshops):
- Materials for molecular and cell biology (LightCycler, APOTOME microscope, cell culture room)
- Imaging (fluorescence microscopy, ultrasound)
- Electrophysiology techniques
- Laboratory for small-animal surgery
